Legal Counsel

We are looking for a bright Legal Counsel to join our People & Business Organization team based in Louvain-la-Neuve.

  • As a Legal Counsel, you will be working closely with the Business and the rest of the Legal Team on the autonomous drafting, negotiating, and managing of commercial contracts on the revenue side of the business, while directly coordinating and/or supporting multiple internal projects, training and activities around contract management and legal compliance.

What you’ll do

  • Provide practical, solution-oriented & business-oriented advice to the business and management on legal and contractual aspects;
  • Lead the entire life-cycle of a commercial contract by coordinating all internal steps of the process, from the review with the internal stakeholders required (i.e. Finance, Business Development, HR, Senior Management) to the direct negotiation with the Customer;
  • Review, markup, draft, negotiate and close sales & purchase contracts, including master services agreements, data protection agreements, service agreements, NDAs and all their related amendments (either from N-SIDE templates, from third-party contracts or in the framework of RFP/tender responses);
  • Design and deliver internal legal and contractual training as needed in order to educate staff about legal aspects;
  • Manage the intellectual property portfolio of the company; 
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them;
  • Work with the rest of the Legal team and business stakeholders on internal best practices and contract processes or tools;
  • Together with the compliance team, monitor changes in laws and regulations and ensure the company’s practices adhere to new legal requirements & support implementation of new actions related thereto (for example, GDPR);
  • Manage potential claims and litigations & coordinate with external counsel as necessary.

About you

  • You have a Master’s Degree in Law;
  • You have gained between 3-5 years experience in a previous function as (in-house) legal counsel within an international corporate environment involving drafting & negotiation of (commercial) contracts;
  • You have a very rigorous attention to detail, strong organizational skills as well as the ability to prioritize own work and manage deadlines;
  • Great business acumen and customer-focus;
  • Innovative and solution-oriented;
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Fluent in English and French
